Cylinder block is the skeleton and housing of the engine, many parts and auxiliarysystem are fixed on it. The block not only carry the load, also suffered many Complexloads, such as pressure and inertia load when engine work.Meanwhile, the blockweight is the biggest part of the engine. To a large extent, its weight affects the weightof the engine. Along with the continuous request to a faster and lighter vehicle, therequirement on power, volume and weight of its engine are also enhanced. It isespecially important for the design and improvement of the block that to obtainedmore accurate value, distribution of stress and deformation. With the development of computer science, the finite element method hasmatured and become practical. It be widely used in almost all fields of the project, including the engine project. It is a common method of numerical analysis. At present,it's the most reliable and efficient method for complex structural strength issue. Theapplication of finite element to the engine project has enhanced the reliability of partsand shorten the design cycle, and promoted the engine industry's rapid development. This thesis is trying to use technology of FEA (Finite element analysis) to analyzethe strength and rigidity of cylinder block of 6105QB engine. During the wholeresearch activities: first of all, designed the cylinder block geometric model whichbased on the 2-D drawing of 6105QB diesel engine by software of PRO/E. Thenimported it into the FEA software of ANSYS, the finite element analysis model wasestablished successfully. Used the above model to analyze the static strength of the6105QB diesel engine cylinder block with advanced FEA technology, and calculatedout the results in all conditions. In the meantime, considered the cylinder block was aperformance structure assembly, which will be effected in various working conditionat actual operation, therefore combined with FE dynamic analysis, mode analysis, completely simulated the rigidity and strength of cylinder block structure under thecondition of static, various loads and shocks in the computer, and also calculate outits natural frequency and dynamic characteristic. Verified the feasibility and reliabilityof structure of the cylinder block. Because of the application of the finite element method in cylinder block research, the design time has been shortened effectively andthe error at repeated tests and judgment by experience has also been reduced, thedesign efficiency has been improved.
