Every year vehicle traffic accidents lead to a large number of casualties and social property losses around the world, thus vehicle safety problems have been attached great importance by the entire automotive industry. According to vehicle accidents analysis, the vehicle collision can be mainly defined as 4 kinds mode-front impact, side impact, rear impact and roll. In the side impact, because of the side structure's weaker deformation endurance and the vehicle has weaker energy absorbing ability, the passenger will suffer much more injury risk. So the research on side impact is very important for improving the crashworthiness of motor vehicle around country. At first, the fundamental theories in study of computer simulation are described. The side impact safety simulation of one native HE vehicle was chosen to study. According to the country regulation, the Moving Deformation Barrier model was developed and researched the method of adjusting the material parameters. Based on the three-dimensional CAD model of the vehicle, the finite element simulation model of the vehicle side crash had been built. According to the country side impact regulation, the vehicle model was impacted by MDB model. The result of contrasting the simulation and the real car test data indicates the accuracy of the simulation model and validated the virtual test simulation method. At last some measures which can enhanced the crashworthiness of side vehicle body were researched, developing two optimization schemes: the collocation form of side impact bar and adopting HSS in some parts of B pole. The simulated result indicate that the collocation form of side impact bar has a little effect for developing the crashworthiness of the vehicle side body, while applying HSS in some parts of B pole can increase the crashworthiness. The modeling methods and research results in this thesis offer important references for vehicle side impact computer stimulation study of our country automotive corporations.
