Label optical burst switch (LOBS) imports MPLS into optical switch to solve great pressure on OBS network node. In this paper, the design of route control board in LOBS test bed is studied. In the first chapter, the background and development history of LOBS are reviewed. The architecture of LOBS network is analyzed from two aspects of function and physical topology. Several technologies in LOBS network are also discussed. In the second chapter, the design process of core node and edge node in LOBS network is introduced. The different functions requirement between core node and edge node is analyzed. Because route control is a common function at both core and edge node, it makes uniform of route control module hardware design possible. By this way, design work can be predigested and corresponding period can be reduced too. Then the requirement of hardware and software is analyzed and the MPC860 is chosen as the route controller while embedded Linux as operation system. Finally, the hardware designs are divided into eight modules and present each hardware module's function separately. In chapter three, the hardware design is introduced in detail. Divided by different function, schematics include six parts, including main controller, reset and configure circuit, storage part, serial communication interface, Ethernet part, BDM debug interface and interface between MPC860-FPGA. Then the PCB design and signal integrity design on consideration of system stability are presented. Finally, the debug methods and diagnose of faults module by module are shown. In chapter four, the paper is concluded and put forward improvement methods of route control board.
