Pylon is the basic bearing and the important component of the cable stayed bridge. It not only bear the weight of itself and the main road's weight which is transmitted through the cable, but also the tremendous curly rules by the upright and level load of the road surface. In addition, sunshine, wind and other outside circumstances are the reasons of the swinging of pylon besides the asymmetry of the steel deck and the unbalance of the strength from the cable. When the offset of the pylon is beyond the limits, the structural press of pylon maybe destroyed, even the bridge would be in danger. Combined with the SuTong Bridge project, the system of pylon's deformation monitored automatically has been explored based on TCA2003. The following parts have been researched in this paper:(1) The demands of the auto deformation monitoring system based on the TCA2003 in the SuTong Bridge have been studied; and the monitoring technology, the origin of error and the main factor of the deformation of pylon have been analyzed. The precision indexes of deformation monitoring of pylon have been made by the method of combining pre-estimated distortion value with observed value's reliability.(2) The software of auto machine-carrying to collect data based on TCA2003 has been explored, whose functions include the automatic and intelligent deformation monitoring of pylon of SuTong Bridge. The problem interfered by many prisms in the view field of TCA has been solved by confirming the search range with design in advance. At the same time, the module of interval surveying has been set up for continue monitoring.(3) For describing and analyzing the deformation of pylon, eliminating the gross error from the original monitoring data, the gross error detecting method in the auto monitoring system has been researched.(4) The database has been built to manage data and the subsystem of data management has also been explored to enhance the efficiency and reliability.(5) The rule of deformation of pylon during the construction and completion period has been analyzed to assure the quality of construction and safety of work.
