AC500 is a light aircraft for business/training which is designed by Nanjing Light Aircraft Co. and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. It is excellent in the safty, controlling and performance in low altitude. But, its performance in high altitude is relatively poor because of the limit of the engine.A solution is proposed to solve this problem. A more powerful engine is used instead of the old one providing that the main shape of the aircraft is unchanged. The main research contents and achievements are as follows:Design the three-view layout and the configuration layout.Design the engine and its involved systems. DMU (digital mock up) is used to build the modul of the engine, redesign the engine-supporter, redesign the engine-cover, design the inlet/exhaust system, and design the engine controlling system.Program a performance computing code for light aircraft based on MATLAB to evaluate the performance of the newly-designed aircraft called AC500G.Evaluate the solution of the redesign.
