With the development of scientific and technological progress and social development, on the size and complexity of the product’s growing demands, Intensifying increasingly competition among enterprises, traditional manufacturing and design have been very difficult to meet the needs of enterprise development. Therefore application of information technology in new product development and implementation of reform, is a corollary to modern enterprise’s survival and development. In this situation, in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness, improving and updating product development model is a matter of urgency.The paper takes CATIA software as the re-development platforms, uses VBScript as an editing tool, Carries on the parametrization design and the automatic virtual assembly to the speed reducer. It uses SimDesigner software to import the virtual prototypes to dynamics analysis software in ADAMS, and establishes a virtual prototyping system of multi-rigid body of the speed reducer. The concrete research work is as follows:1. Applications prepared VB programming functions that generate gear model in CATIA software. Because the application of the gear speed reducer quite is more widely, in order to improve the production efficiency of the speed reducer, shorten the production cycle, and improve the competitiveness of the products on the market, therefore the paper develops a gear libraries and standard parts library. According to the needs of user, just entering the basic parameters of the required parts, you can generate the required model.2. Based on VB programming, parts and accessories of the speed reducer were assembled automatically, then people carry on the interference analysis and the examination for the speed reducer.3. Using the plug-in SimDesigner for CATIA V5and Pro/E software to reducer virtual prototyping into ADAMS, and Virtual Prototype(VP) by imposing constraints and load on the transmission part of the speed reducer, in order to carry out the dynamic simulation and analysis of simulation results, namely the three shaft rotational speed, input shaft, shaft and output shaft rotation angle velocity time curve, using two methods to get the simulation value is compared with the theoretical value, error analysis, further indicating the two methods into ADAMS software the feasibility and rationality of the design of speed reducer.
