A new type of squirrel-cage induction generator system, dual stator-winding induction generator is described in this paper; it can be used in wind energy generation field. This generator is different from traditional induction generator, there are two separated windings embedded in the stator slots: One, referred to as three-phase power winding, which supplies power to the DC load via a three-phase uncontrolled bridge rectifier, and the other, called control winding, which compensates reactive current to keep power winding DC side voltage constant when speed varies or load changes.Dual stator-winding genetation system can be used in Variable-speed wind energy generation systems. But its output three-phase voltage frenquency changes according to the drive speed and load. In this case, this system is more suitable with a load of three-phase bridge uncontrolled rectifier. And can be used in High-Voltage DC Variable-speed wind energy generation system, which is consistent with the way of off-shore HVDC Variable-speed wind energy genetation now using by ABB Company.In this paper, Firstly, the basic principle of dual stator-winding generation system is described. Secondly, the MATLAB Simulation model is set up with two kind of control strategy: one is current hysteresis, and the other is SVPWM. System simulation has been done in detail and in depth, dymanic process has also been analysed in the condition of varied-speed and different load, and many control rules have been found. At the same time, experiment reseaches have been done in 700W/160V dual sator-winding sampling motor; its results show the correctness of this system control strategy. Thirdly, aimed at reducing excitation regulator capacity, excitation optimal capacitance choosen principle is given, validation experiments have also been done in 18KW/270V sampling motor. Besides, two kinds of digital control system platform are introduced in this paper: one is based on TMS320F2812 DSP, which is now used in 700W/160V sampling motor; and the other is based on dSPACE DS1104, which is now used in 18KW/270V sampling motor. Finally, an expectation about further study of this project is given, also some questions crying for solving is proposed.This subject is supported by NSFC (No.50577032), ASFC (No.04F52039) And Delta Education Development Foundation.
