Excitation conteoller is a main part of excitation system in the synchronous generator, which affects the safe and steady operation of generator and even power system. As the unit capacity is increasing and the structure of grid system is gradually complex, the power system requires that the excitation system have higher security and higher reliability. After summarizing the actuality of excitation conteoller in synchronous generator, for the sake of resolveing the problems in single microcomputer excitation regulator, this thesis constructs the hardware platform of dual microcomputer excitation regulating system based on DSP, makes a study on the issues of fault recognition and detection, automatic switch and communication ability, which completes some work as follows:This paper adopts a measure of redundancy of hardware and software, chooses TMS320F2812 as the control center of excitation controller, and designs the whole structure of dual microcomputer excitation regulator which comprises the parts of host computer, reserve computer and fault detection subsystem. On the basis of analyzing the requirement of software, it designs the main program and modules of system. This paper utilizes the CAN communication ability which offered by TMS320F2812 to design the communication network in order to communicate with every part of dual microcomputer excitation regulator and solve the the problems of transmitting more data type and choosing sending mailbox of communicating program.This paper uses a third DSP chip to set a fault detection subsystem to inspect the malfunctions of synchronizing signal vanishing, electric supply failure and pulse losing online, which reduces the peripheral circuit for inspecting malfunction and enhances thr rapidity of detecting fault. Meanwhile, it designs a switch unit whose switching rate can get millimicroseconds. When the malfunctions happen, this unit can switch off them speedily and put the reserve section into operation. Finally, this paper has done the designs of software such as data acquisition, regulating calculation, malfunctions detection, automatic switch, and digital communication. Afterwards, it carries on a systemic test. The test results indicate that dual microcomputer excitation regulator based on DSP in this thesis can operate properly; the fault detection subsystem enhances the security and reliability; the whole equipment has a bright application value in the future.
