Transmission is an important component of vehicle's power train, the character in kinematics and dynamics of transmission is related to the reliability of vehicle directly. The application of virtual prototyping technology not only improves simulation technology's precision, but also save time. Base on this point, the paper takes a vehicle transmission for research object and discuss its dynamics character from all aspects. The main points of the paper are listed below:Firstly, build the transmission parts and assemble the model in PRO/E environment. Then analyze the transmission kinematical character and its geometry rationality based on the assembly model.Synchronizer is an important device of transmission. Some important parameters in the synchronizing process are calculated, and then the process is simulated in the MSC-ADAMS environment, furthermore, the two results used different method are compared and analyzed.Some parameters used in simulation of acting force in both spur gears and helical gears are presented based on Hertz formula. Then the multi-body dynamics simulation model of the gear mechanism is established in the paper. The consistency of the simulation and the calculated values of acting force and frequency in gears indicate that the formula is correct.The ANSYS solver is used in the answer solving calculation and the study of stress distribution and distortion distribution conditions of output shaft and 5 gears. The intensity of output shaft is also checked according to the intensity theory.Finally, aimed at that transmission often has gears faults which are checked difficultly and the nonstationary character of transmission gear vibration signal, Multi-Resolution Analysis is adopted to the vibration signal of transmission gear signal with the db4 wavelet. It is shown that the wavelet transform has get obvious effect in automobile transmission gear fault diagnosis.
