Since transmission is an important component of vehicle's power train, the character in kinematics and dynamics of transmission is related to the reliability of vehicle directly. The application of virtual prototyping technology not only improves simulation technique's precision, but also saves the time.Taking example for a transmission used in vehicle, the key steps and approaches of dynamic simulation on the transmission based on virtual prototyping technology are discussed. Three-dimensional models of transmission parts are built, and then power-transmission system of transmission is put up for kinematical simulation. This thesis makes a deep research on the dynamics simulation methods of the gear-rotor-bearing system and the synchronizer mechanism. The main points of the thesis are listed below:Three-dimensional models of transmission parts are built by Pro/ENGINEER, and then assembly model of the transmission is built by means of adopting from bottom to tip. Based on the assembly model, power-transmission system of transmission is put up for kinematical simulation. Flow of analyze adopted by this thesis: three-dimensional of parts modeling—subassembly modeling—final assembly modeling—kinematical simulation analyze. By combined technology of CAD and CAE, kinematics simulation analyze of complex machine is perfectly set out and it has direct instructional meaning for engineering.Based on the assembly model, transmission parts of fifth shift are leaded into ADAMS system by MECHANISM/Pro which is the interface software of Pro/ENGINEER and ADAMS, relevant joints and motions are appended, and then power-transmission system is put up for dynamics simulation analyze base on MSC-ADAMS environment. Helical gears are presented based on Hertz formula, then, the multi-body dynamics simulation model of the gear train mechanism is established in the thesis.Synchronizer is an important device of transmission. In the thesis, firstly simple simulation model of the synchronizer is built, and then edit splines of shift force by using data of experimentation and change other synchronizer parameters to simulate the process in the MSC-ADAMS environment in the synchronizing process, finally find main factors of synchronous time. This thesis indicates that building simulation model of the synchronizer can gain relative exact results, more important that we can simulate the process in the synchronizing process before physical prototypes have been made.
