Structural reliability theory and method has been widely used in the project area and has achieved a large measure of success, But crane design (except for the tower crane), the majority stay in the traditional safety factor design stage. As a typical special equipment, cranes' reliability directly related to the security in many areas of production. Tts Design theory and methodology is conservative and progress slowly. Thus, summing up the experience of finite element analysis for gantry crane metal structure (hereinafter referred to the gantry crane), this paper proposes the fuzzy stochastic analysis theory and methods by study of classical reliability theory and fuzzy reliability.This paper discussed the main elements: Introduction about the common methods of classical reliability theory and its limitations, analysis of the necessity and feasibility of the fuzzy theory in structural reliability analysis; The numerical simulation of complex structural reliability analysis based on the finite element method and reliability theory; Introduction of the fuzzy stochastic theory analysis, and discussion about the uncertain factors existing in the gantry crane According to the traditional design method of crane by the state departments of technology; Discussion about how to establish a rational finite element model of gantry crane and introduction about a range of simplify methods with certification, based on introduction of the common element type in the gantry crane FEA; Using With VB and ANSYS to propose a second development called "gantry crane parameters of finite element analysis(GCPFEA)", and discussion of some of the key problems and their solutions in the development process, and demonstrating the practical value of the GCPFEA by a U-shaped crane; Discussion about the methods by probability Analysis modules of ANSYS; Finally, conclusion about the fatigue theory, discussion of the methods for ANSYS fatigue analysis and fatigue life prediction.
