The Significance And Methords For Preserving And Re-Using The Industrial Heritage

People of nowadays pay more and more attention to the industrial heritage. In China, the work on the classification, the conservation and the re-use of the industrial heritage is just about to begin. Meanwhile, the western countries have been already working on it for more than 40 years. We need to learn from their well-advanced experiences, in order to adapt the methods to the current situation of the disappearing industrial heritage in China, and to avoid any kinds of regrets.Based on the development of the industry in history, we first explained the significant influence brought by the industry to the human society, especially to the architecture. We then reviewed the definition of the industrial heritage, as well as its evolution and background through the last decades.We analyzed many success conservation projects, and made some advanced studies of the industrial architecture, about their forms, types, and identities. Thus we obtained not only the rules to follow when encountering any kind of industrial heritage, but also the complete process of the conservation measures.With a lot of emphasize, we detailed the industry development in China, and made a listing of its heritage during successive times.At last, we did a simulating project on an industrial zone in Chengdu, China, by strictly following the conservation process and methods for re-use we obtained previously.
