The Research Of The Transportation Geographic Information System Of Chengdu Highway Network

The development of hi-technology represented by information scicence and technique is affecting the industry and economy development in one country and region of which traffic informalization is an important reflection. The transportaion intelligent system industry based on traffic informatization is considered as one of the most significant industy in the next centry.Traffic geographic information system (GIS-T) developed based on geographic information system (GIS) technology. The traffic domain is one of the monst important applied domain of GIS due to the close relationship between traffic information and geographic information.The GIS application in traffic domain which have an extensively development in developed country such as Europe, America, Japan mainly involved traffic infrastructure management, roadway plan and design, traffic safety management and pavement maintenance etc. While the application in China maily involved the establishment of GIS-T, the integration of GIS and GPS, vehicle and ship navigation service, spcial position service, GIS application in ITS etc.Responding to the call of national traffic informatization building, the partial developed city GIS are realized by Chengdu firsty in coutrywide, but using information and network technique to build GIS-T haven't been realized. Based on the discussion of the Chengdu highway network and its existing traffic information system, and then integrated all the traffic entity such as road, vehicle into one group, this paper built the highway GIS spatial database, map elements property database and constructed Chengdu highway GIS-T using communication technique, electronic technique and other scientific technique. Through the building of the relative sub-system, the traffic information data can be reflected by character, fig or table notly. The real-time traffic information input and output in traffic control system can also be realized in order to amend traffic control scheme and allot regional traffic flow reasonably, so to achieve the goal of safety and expedite and satisfy the requirement of city expansion and the development of highway transportation industry.
