The Analysis Of Bus-priority's Impacts On Traffic Capacity

As the rapid development of urban economy, the volume of motor vehicles has been rising dramatically, and the traffic demand has been expanded, whereas the traffic infrastructure is relatively under development, making traffic jam one of the factors which seriously affect urban life. To develop public transportation superiorly is a effective solution to this problem. After the concept of superior public transportation, many scholars studies this subject, and many methodology and theories were put forward. Based on the works done by the predecessors, this paper analyzed the current measures of superior public transportation and its traffic flow attributes, and analyzed its affection to the passing capability with the operation of bus.First, this paper introduces the situation of superior public transportation in home and abroad and some concepts. Then the technics and measures of public transportation are analyzed, including the superior public transportation on road, crossway, and loop cross way. The measures of superior public transportation on road is mainly about the setting of exclusive way for public transportation, which is a segmentation of road privilege, resulting the separation of bus and other vehicles, making the rapid operation of public transportation. The measures of superior public transportation on the crossway is mainly about the setting of traffic signals on the superior public transportation crossway. The traffic flow attributes are analyzed, including the variance of time on the road, delay on the crossway, and the traffic attributes near bus stop is analyzed independently. Finally, the affection of superior measures to the passing capability, the affection of bus stop to the road capacity , and the setting of public transportation pre signal to the road capcity is analyzed. The road passing capacity and algorism is put forward accordingly.
