With the 3D show of the ballistic missile penetration as the research background, this paper summarizes the content and form to show by analyzing the process and details of missile penetration. Besides a deeper research on the key technology of the way to show the content and form is performed, consulting the development of the"3D visual simulation system of the missile penetration".OpenGL is the industry standard used in development of 3D graphics software. The "3D visual simulation system of the missile penetration",a subsystem of the "Digital simulation and evaluation system of ballistic missiles penetration", is completed. In the system development process, a close study is carried out on the key technologies of the realization of 3D visual simulation based on OpenGL in this paper. The key technologies include model building technology, multi-viewports technology, interactive walkthrough and collision detection technology, outer 3D model leading-in technology, particle systems, blending and anti-aliasing technology,3D terrain modeling technology and render speed optimizing technology , etc.
