With the social development, increasingly prominent energy issues and environmental protection issues, pure electric vehicles with zero emissions, low noise advantages are getting growing attention by the world, electric vehicles have to be the current of automobile industry green car. As the fast development of the electric vehicle, the requirement to the battery technology is higher and higher. So the management of the battery working state is also more and more important. The paper has deeply studied the traction battery management system of electrical vehicles and the logical design thoughts and realized methods have been put forward.At first introduced electric vehicle and the history of the development of the battery management system cell technology, and the remaining margins of several models. In this paper MH-Ni batteries is researched, by careful analysis of MH-Ni batteries work principles, the battery voltage, current and temperature characteristics. Then a logical SOC measuring method has been raised, which is the combination of experience and integral calculation.On the base of researching quick-charging theory and some charging method, the two phases charging mode has been put forward; probed into the control technique of quick-charging for battery, in the actual design, used the colligation control method, which made up by voltage negative-increment control,topmost voltage control and temperature control.the design of a distributed, modularized electric battery management system comprised by center control,intelligent charging,and voltage,temperature,current measuring modules was described, in which the data communication by LIN Bus. Concretely analyzed the circuit parameter in hardware design, used the Atmega81 as the MCU, finished the program design by the ICC software, list out the every module's flow chart as the end.The battery management system introduced by this paper has already got actual application in a engineer electric vehicle. The hardware circuit is reliable and economical, software debugging is expedite. The ability of interference rejection is strong. it is worthy of doing some more research on the idea of intelligent-charging.
