Programmal logic controller(PLC)is a kind of excellant industrial PC which isdeveloped rapidly and used widely in recent years, taking microprocessor as itscore,integrating computer technology, automation technology and communicationtechnology.Synchronous generator excitation control system is an important part in powersystem. It is designed to steady operation of the system voltage and balance the distributionof inactive power by offering adjustable current for Synchronous generator. Excitationsystem consists tow parts.The first part is power unit. It can offer adjustable directcurrent for excitative winding of Synchronous generator.The second part is excitativemonitor and manager system(excitation adjuster). It can manager the parameters ofexcitation system,monitor and adjust the excitative current which is offered by powerunit, acconding to the necessity of generator operating and power system operating.The paper studys of microprocess excitation system based on PID.The excitationsystem adopts CQM1H-PLC as major control system,it can monitor and monager thefailure for SCR excitation system, the function of logical operation and data processing ofPLC,by getting through of I/O,A/D,D/A module.The paper mainly reseaches the cause offailure to excitation system and the data gathering system for the problem moniter andmanager system.The use of SCR excitation based on PLC technology, which is potential in futurepromotion,can promote the safety, reliability and the colligation efficiency in thepeoformance of small hydropower station.
