With the rapid growth of the national economy, the modern traffic has created aninestimable wealth for the whole society. However, the increasing ear accidents havebrought casualties and loss of properties. As a real-time monitoring electronic product,Vehicle Data Recorder saves the important information of the running state of a car. It willprovide reliable and correct information, which is helpful for the analysis of accidents.Based on the requirements of "national standard of Vehicle recorder", the monitoringand record for main parameters of the running state of a car were researched. The hardwarecompleted the collection and comparison of speed, switching signals and time data. In theselection of chips: the most popular AT89C51 was used as CPU, AT29C040A asmemorizer. Taking the internal batteries of cars into account, the entire vehicle datarecorder used the internal batteries as power supply after the transformation of MC34063A;For software, the RS232 serial communication was used for data communication.Assembly Language was used as the programming language for the singlechip. SQL server2000 was used for the management of database. Visual Basic was used to realize theterminal control form.Results show that the entire system designed in the thesis is capable for themonitoring and record of the running state of cars, and meets the anticipation effectively.
