This dissertation has deeply researched the development progress of virtual reality geographical information system, and makes deeply discussion about the technique route and key problems of the system realization in example of Huangshan road of Hefei.The dissertation generally uses three dimensional modeling technique, large terrain of scene rebuilding technique, LOD technique, instance technique, texture mapping and transparent texture technique, to realize the actuality and planning building's three dimensional modeling. On this basis, we use VRMAP and Vega Prime drive platform to complete the integration of the large scene and system function development. We have realized GIS analysis functions and the contrast between different planning project, which has made an important role in the planning and design of Huangshan road of Hefei and got high praise from Hefei planning department and building design department of Anhui province.The dissertation generally uses VR and GIS technology and makes primary discussion of the integration of VR and GIS. On the basis of building a large VR scene, it states in detail of the system function design and function realization based on VRMAP drive platform, and gives a deeply contrast in the visualization and system function between two different civil and abroad platform by using the two different platform for integration. From the contrast, it concludes that VRMAP is good at three dimensional visualization display, whose color display is nature, lively and near to the real life; VP has a big potential in second development, whose advanced frame, abundant functions and nice open for second development are benefit for different functions development. Besides, the strong ocean module, dynamics system, particle system and specially effect are all better than the similar simulation platform. From the contrast, it makes a basis to deeply understand three dimensional simulation and the integration of VRGIS, also according to the contrast, it will be easy to make a decision to select which platform to different project.The dissertation is an application of VRGIS technology in city planning area, which has made an important role in the planning decision of the central area of Hefei, and also makes contribution to the planning and construction of Hefei city.
