Augment Reality is also defined as Mixed Reality. It is a technique that merges virtual information into the real world through computer technology, which the real environment and virtual objects can get spliced in the same image or space at real time. AR transfers between both virtual reality and reality, it makes great complements to the real world from vision, hearing and feeling, which make the virtual information merged in become one part of the real world. AR gives us strong apperception and the ability to interact with real world.Firstly the paper gives an introduction about the AR background knowledge and basic theory, and then presents a city planning system based on AR. The paper combines the computer vision technique with traditional city planning system, researches and defines the planning space and interfaces. The planning space is the platform for user to do planning jobs, it is defined by multiple markers which are settled on the table in real world for the registration of urban terrain. The paper proposes a real-time computed register method using multiple markers to overcome the part occlusion and make the registration to be exact and steady. The interfaces provide all kinds of operations about the 3D models, such as pick, put, delete and scale. Each operation is defined a single movement closed to people's sport habit, it makes the interfaces more convenient to users. All the movements are catched by camera and then the computer will analyse them to make sure which operation occurs. The system hardware devices include HMD, PC and camera.
