The recent years are the most important turning point in the development of China history. The main characteristic is that the effects of the west have permeated all fields of China such as politics, economics, spirit, culture and the lives of people. After the opening of Hankou, the running of religion schools made the education and educational buildings of Wuhan develop well. The reform of the Guangzhou Governor Zhang Zhidong, the upgrade of westernization movement, and the opening of lots of schools emerged the establishment of large numbers of schools, the new educational buildings and education at a relatively high speed. Wuhan education as a system, suffered from the unprecedented impact and stimulation by unprecedented change, and this change lasted until today. As a great part of educational culture, educational buildings also have changed greatly. As the factor of the geographic location and the historic culture, the pattern of the recent educational buildings has its own style and characteristics. And the educational buildings'production under this background is an important part of the recent buildings and city culture. It is not only taking teaching task today, but also it is an important factor in forming campus historical and cultural atmosphere.As to educational buildings of Wuhan area, people seldom do researches on it systematically, especially when taking this area as a total target. There is only some pictures and introduction of educational buildings of Wuhan, but no relatively complete data and research of them.This article takes the formation and development of the recent educational buildings of Wuhan as background, doing researches on them and analyzing them. Firstly, taking the change of the recent educational system as the reference point, the basic research on the historical change of the recent educational buildings of Wuhan has been done. Secondly, it has done the research on characteristics of classification, distribution and values of buildings, summing up the existing characteristics of them. According to it, the discussion on the evolution process of missionary schools and non-missionary schools, the comprehensive plan of schools, the layout of building groups, the single building and the characteristics of departments has been done, on the basis of lots of research, analyses and on-the-spot investigation. Finally, it has analyzed the main problems and stated out remedial measures. It also stated that we should make full efforts to do the complete and deep research on the recent educational buildings of Wuhan, because such research will play an important role on the sustained growth and construction in the 21st century, the recent educational history of Wuhan, and recognition of the recent construction of schools and the development of them in the future.
