Multi-tower-connected structure (MTCS) is a new challenge to the high-rise buildings design. Its analysis model, static and dynamic characteristics, failure forms and calculation method are more complex than the common high-rise buildings. The double-towe-connected structure without enlarged base which is symmetrized in X and Y axises (DTCS) is one simple sort of MTCS. It is formed by tow towers and one or more connecting units which satisfy special functions and architecture demand, such as several spatial corridors. The analysis model, mechanics characteristic, parameters, aseismatic design method and responses under the seismic action of the double-tower-connected structure are analysed in this paper by the numbers. The main investigations are as follows:1. The correlative depiction of the MTCS system. The structure characteristic, classification, domestic and overseas research actuality and calculation models of MTCS is specified.2. The static analysis of the biaxial-symmetric DTCS under action of the lateral load. The internal force expressions of the biaxial-symmetric DTCS under various conditions are derived and the static characteristic of the structure subjected to load are analysed deeply. The main parameters influencing the internal force of the connection parts and towers are discussed and analysed under the static action.3. The study on the dynamic characteristic and vibration modes of the biaxial-symmetric DTCS. Six kinds of basic vibration modes of the biaxial-symmetric DTCS are deduced through building the series-parallel connected rigid-plate model and analysing free-vibration characteristic equation of this structure. Otherwise, the participating coefficients of vibration mode of the biaxial-symmetric DTCS are diferent from the ones of the single tower building through analysing them. The principle of selecting vibration modes for the structural system is also given.4. The analysis of seismic response on the biaxial-symmetric DTCS.The seismic response analysis of the three-dimensional finite-element model of the biaxial-symmetric DTCS is carried out. The mechanics characteristic and the deformation behavior of this structure subjected to seismic action are analysed deeply. The effect of the layout of the connection parts on the structure is also considered.
