The high-rise twin-tower connected structure is a new structure system developingin recent years. The connected structure mainly includes two or more towers and aconnective structure joining the towers together. Due to the connection, the originalindependent monomer structure form to space as a whole, and to facilitate the spatialconnection of each monomer, the same time, stress and deformation of the structure, especially that of the connection is complex, and torsion effect increases as well. The connective structure can be divided into strong connection and flexibleconnection. The current research is mainly focused on the position, storey of strongconnection, but the research on flexible connection is less. Particularly, the recent studyon the impact of stiffness of bearings on seismic performance is insufficient. For thisreason, the main research of this paper includes followings:1. This paper analyzed dynamic characteristics, seismic response of the flexibleconnected structure for different connections, and conducted a comparison with thestructure without the connection.2. Taking into account nonlinear effect of bearings, this paper carried outtime-history analysis on the flexible connected structure, obtained the changing rule ofseismic performance of the structure with varied support stiffness, provided theory basisfor selecting reasonable bearings. In addition, this article researched and summarizedcommonly used bearings of the flexible connected structure, and analyzed the workingprinciple, characteristics of each bearing.3. This paper developed time-history analysis on an example of flexible connectedstructure for three seismic intensities, and studied seismic performance of structure, energy dissipation performance of bearings and collision response between theconnection and the connective corridor.4. Through comparing with the seismic performance of the twin-tower connectedstructure model, the simplified model of twin-tower unconnected structure with nodeload of the connective corridor is practical.
