The key point of the hydraulic manifold block (HMB) design is to attain the optimum integrated layout and connection schemes. However, due to the diversity of the composition of hydraulic system and the complexity of design process, some factors such as outer components' operation convenience and appearance can not be considered inside the system. It is difficult to ensure that different parts of HMB can be assembled to the right position without any interference and collision and between them there is enough space for the assembly tools. In order to get the best scheme, virtual assembly technology is applied during the process of HMB's design to realize the virtual products' pre-assembly. Components' movement and spatial position relation can be displayed visually. In addition, works, such as assembly planning, interference detection and interaction in design scheme's adjustment etc., can also be carried out in the system in order to verify and improve the assemblability of the products. Also, it can provide the feedback information to the HMB design system and choose the optimal scheme.The main contents are summarized below:Firstly, by analyzing application and status quo of HMB design and virtual assembly technique, aiming at structure feature and assembly characteristic of HMB, the necessity of assembly process simulation is pointed out. The architecture and operation flow of the system is designed. This paper also focuses on the key technologies of the system, including assembly modeling technology, assembly planning technology, assembly simulation technology and collision and interference detection technology etc. during simulation.Secondly, according to requirement of the virtual assembly design for the model, on the basis of the feature based modeling method, a new object-oriented modeling method which can suit assembly process simulation is suggested. It expands useful information of the model to meet the demand of the assembly environment. Based on the method with the combination of feature element modeling method and parametric modeling technology, a 3D hydraulic components modeling system is successfully founded to provide support for the assembly process simulation.At last, an interactive method is used to obtain the assembly sequence. Optimized heuristic search algorithm A~* is applied in assembly path planning to describe the assembly process correctly and effectively. So the assembly planning of HMB is completely realized. With the support of assembly planning information, HMB assembly processing simulation is implemented by using coordinate driving technology based on the spatial constraint relationshipsThe system is one of the important parts of the optimizing design system of HMB. With MDT as a platform and Visual C++6.0 and ObjectARX as a development tool, HMB virtual assembly simulation system is developed successfully. Through textual researching massive typical optimization problem examples, the effectiveness of research methods and the practicality of the integration system are testified. In the end, a typical integrated hydraulic system design result's assembly is inspected by using this software and the whole work flow and concrete function are overall shown.
