Study On The Design Of Reconstruction For Kunming Railway Station

The appearance of the steam engine and the traffic transportation is the symbol of modern traffic transportation industry. From the first railway station was built in 1830s, the railway passenger transportation station has more than 170 years'development history. Traffic transportation industry developed well until the beginning of the 20th Century. From 1920s, with the development and prevalence of the vehicles and planes, there became a competition between traffic transport and aerial transport. The flexibility of cars and the rapidity of planes gradually made railway transport not as prosperous as before. Since 1970s, due to the global scarce energy sources, the improvement of railway self's techniques and transformation of societal economy structure, railway transport began to renew its recognition. Especially the application of high-speed train, the speed disadvantage of the train was changed. This also made railway transport economical in energy sources and environmentally friendly. In addition, the city railway traffic transportation patterns, such as subway and light railway, spread the area of traffic transportation, and also make railway passenger transport a new development period and opportunity for construction or reconstruction.As the center of politics, economy, industry and culture of Yunnan province, Kunming is a city famous for tourism. With the development of the economy, the number of passengers who arrive in Kunming railway station has increased rapidly. Especially, the electrization alteration of the Nan-Kun and Cheng-Kun railway system and the opening of the Kunming-Yuxi and Guang-Da railway lines greatly increased the number of the trains passing through Kunming railway station. Therefore, the reconstruction of Kunming railway station is extremely important.With the development of domestic economy, either numerous modern railway stations have been built or the existing stations have been reconstructed in most of the big cities. When it comes to some stations with a long history, as the railway terminal, the implement of modern railway station construction must be subject to many factors. Due to these limitations, the only way that can be adopted is on-site reconstruction.The traditional design for railway station is focused on the character of the"waiting - type". With the development of economy and technology, based on urban design theory and overseas experience, the direction of modern design for railway station is developing to integrative Railway Station, which offers service for panssenger transportation and the combination of diverse vehicles, where passengers can conveniently transfer to various vehicles. The design concept is based on humanism . In this conception, the two characters of the architectural space should be complexity and compatibility. In this paper, first, According to investigation and information collection, the disadvantage of Kunming railway station is studied, then the existing problems are analysed. Second, the urgency of reconstruction of Kunming railway station is presented. Third, based on the conception of integrative railway station, both basic theory and project design of reconstruction are shown. Last, the reconstruction scale of Kunming railway station is further discussed.The analytical steps of this paper are as follows: pointing out the problems, analyzing the problems, discussing the feasibility of solving the problems, presenting the reconstruction method, ascertaining the reconstruction scale, and project design.The major tasks of this paper are as follows. First, the domestic and abroad developments of the railway station are reviewed. And the necessity of reconstruction of Kunming railway station is also presented. Second, correlated theory and practice about design of railway station are detailedly introduced. Third, the necessity of the reconstruction of Kunming railway station's passenger transportation building and station are discussed. Last, the project design of Kunming railway station is processed.It is hoped that this research paper could be used for helpful reference for the construction of railway station in China.
