With the development of economy and modernization in our country, the electronic control technology for diesel engine has made progress. Not only the dynamic performance, the fuel economy and the emission, but the whole performance of power plants has been improved by the introduction of electronic speed controllers. Therefore, it becomes an important task to realize the more outstanding speed control performance. This article makes a simulation research about the electronic speed control system of a turbocharged, two-stroke diesel engine. The main content of this article is given as follows:The development of electronic speed control system for diesel engines are summarized. The development of engine models that are used for diesel engine control, especially for nonlinear control, is introduced. The advantages, disadvantages and applicability of each engine model are all given. The application of speed control systems and simulation technology is also described. A mean value model of the turbocharged diesel engine that mainly describes the time development of mean values of the engine states rather than their instantaneous values is given according to the performance principle of diesel engines, and the problems on modeling are discussed. The speed control system is also modeled, and the influence of parameters on the whole timing performance is analyzed based on the theory of speed control. The simulation software, MATLAB and Simulink, is introduced. The simulations are performed respectively based on the models of the turbocharged diesel engine and the entire speed control system. The simulation flow chart, the construction of each simulation block and the control parameters are all given. Finally, the simulation results are analyzed, including proving the validity of the models and the influence of parameters on the whole timing performance.
