MAN B&W 6S60MC the most advanced and typical marine diesel engine is chosen as the main power engine for the marine power plant simulator whose mother ship is a sixty thousand tons oil tank. The physical and mathematical models of this main engine have been built and their simulations have been done, such as the diesel engine working process, including suction, compression, combustion, expansion and exhaustion, the turbocharger and the cooler. Because of this, the normal steady working parameters of this engine have been simulated, such as the compression pressure, maximum combustion gas pressure, exhaustion temperature, fuel oil consumption, turbocharger rotate speed and so on. At the same time, the working parameter curves of the diesel engine have been shown, for example, the P-V, P-cp, T-cp and heat release rate graph, etc. These parameters include the diesel engine actual working parameters on the ship. Besides, there are more working parameters can be simulated so as to be further certain of the working state and trait of the diesel engine.During the diesel engine simulation, because the simulation of the working process of the diesel engine is too complex, if the usual method is chosen to iterate, the iterative time will be too long, so it cannot meet the time requirement for the actual simulation. As a result, an improved method of calculation is put forward. It can meet the time requirement for the actual simulation and also the simulation precision can meet the marine power plant simulator's requirement. It also solves the contravention between the actual simulation time and the simulation precision. Moreover, the simulation system carries out the simulation of the diesel engine while the load or the oil rack position varies steplessly. The realization of these functions is the innovation of this paper.Considering the fact that besides the normal steady condition of navigation, the actual ship usually varies in speed, for example passing arriving or leaving the port or sailing manually, the simulation of the various condition of the ship has been done in this paper. It comes true that the actual time simulation of the dynamic process for the marine diesel engine has been done. From it the diesel engine rotate speed, oil rack position, turbocharger rotate speed, exhaust gas pressure, exhaust gas temperature, scavenge pressure, scavenge temperature, ship speed and other important parameters in the dynamic process can be shown. The change trends are also shown by means of curves. The failure settings of the main engine system are the necessary contents of the marine power plant simulator. There are more than two hundred failures in the main engine failure settings, which can be simulated and vividly be shown on the graphs. The parameters of the failure settings can be compared with that of the rated condition sointhat the failure phenomena and its reasons and traits can be apparently realized, estimated and analyzed. The failure settings include that of the diesel engine, for example, the single cylinder no fuel oil, scavenge air box firing, cylinder air leakage, cylinder air port dirty, piston ring broken, cylinder worn, cylinder poor cooling, poor oil fog. poor combustion, too early combustion, too late combustion, maximum combustion pressure too high, maximum combustion pressure too low, exhaust gas valve leakage, exhaust valve timing too early, exhaust valve timing too late, scavenge air temperature too high, scavenge air temperature too low and so on. These failure settings can be completed on each cylinder and the correspondently parameter curves of the diesel engine can be shown vividly. In this paper the physical and mathematical models of the fuel oil supply system of the main engine and generator engine have also been built, mainly including that of the oil tanks, oil filters, oil pipes, valves, viscosimeters, fuel oil pre-heaters. steam valve PID and oil change process and so on. The program is completed and debugged and compiled in the Visual Basic 6.0 environment and then m...
