As a modern technology for navigation, Engine simulator is widely used for cultivating engine operator all around the world. Marine power plant is the corn of ships. And fuel oil system is the main part of Marine power plant. The research of fuel oil system stimulation promotes the improvement of the fidelity of Engine simulator.Based on the detailed analysis of fuel oil system, this paper establishes a relatively complete mathematical model of the system by using related theories of thermo mechanics and engineering fluid mechanics. The paper goes further to discuss the modeling of pipes, pumps, heating exchanger and flow meter in details. Moreover, the researcher established the pipe networks of fuel oil system and calculated the flow and node pressure of each spur track of the networks by matrix method. Since the pipe networks are very complicated, the researcher explained the Gaussian elimination, sparse matrix method and some other mathematical methods specifically. The result shows that sparse matrix method reduces the memory size and the calculation of the matrix.This paper applies the sparse matrix method to fuel oil simulation system and successfully establishes the visualized fuel oil simulation software. By distributed simulation, the software combines the model and user interface. The fuel oil simulation system software consists of Oil Filling, Transferring, and the fuel oil supplement system of M.E and G.E. Thus the software has many functions such as valve operating, viscosity controlling and oil tank heating, etc.The result of simulation proves that the sparse matrix method used in solving pipe networks in this thesis works for simulation calculation. As the valve and pump condition changing, it is possible to calculate the node pressure and the pipeline flow. This method can not only ensure the fidelity but also can reduce the time for calculation. So it improves the fidelity of the Marine Engine simulation system as a whole. Fuel oil simulation system has been successfully used in DMS-2006 full function Marine Engine simulator. The sparse matrix method can also be used in other calculation of Incompressible flow pipe network.
