As a natural construction material, wood was employed in any pagodas, palaces, temples and residential houses in the history of China. With a lot of wood products manufactures and wood structure design companies come into China these years, more and more people become familiar with the light wood structures, and people are very likely to live in it. The light wood truss is a typical roof system, and the metal plate connected joint is also a typical joint in the truss. It is very clear that this connected joint's bearing capacity has a direct relation to the whole truss' bearing capacity.This paper introduced some typical wood connected joints, including those Chinese traditional wood connected joints which are called sunmao connected joint and dougong connected way and some connected joints that are usually employed in the modern timber structures. This paper introduced the styles, constructional details and materials' properties, and expounded the two metal plates' tests of bearing capacities according to the method in the code that introduced overseas, then many test data had been obtained and several design values of these two metal plate connected joints had been got. At the same time these two metal plates' design values that tested by CCMC from Canada had been got. But china and Canada have different reliability levels; these values from Canada had been transferred according to Chinese code and had been compared with the test values. Finally this paper presented some main factors that could affect the test results.
