Metal-plate connectors has been used more and more often due to it can be producted in batch and it`s construction is very easy. It should be introduced to China into the wood structure and the bamboo structure. GluBam is a new building material.Studying the performance of GluBam connectors is important to popularize GluBam structures. Following the "Code for design of timber structures" GB50005-2003 and "Technical code for light wood trusses" JGJT265- 2012,this thesis conducted the test research to analyze whether metal-plate connectors can be used in GluBam structures.Firstly, Four kinds of tension specimens were conducted which are different form each other in the orientation between load 、the main direction of GluBam and the main direction of truss plate to get their ultimate tension strength. Based on the statistic al analyses of the test results, it is found out that the distribution of the test data is close to the normal distribution. Comparing to the ultimate tension strength of import truss plate connected wood, the ultimate tension strength of truss plate made in China connected GluBam is as good as the former.Secondly, for applying metal-plate connection into GluBam structures as soon as possible, the tension and shear tests were conducted too. The results show it has a higher tensile and shear strength comparing to the value provided by the "Code for design of timber structures" GB50005-2003 and "Technical code for light wood trusses" JGJT 265-2012.Thirdly, the test with special orientation were conducted. The test results were compared with the value figured up by the formula provided by the "Code for design of timber structures" GB50005-2003 and "Technical code for light wood trusses" JGJT 265-2012. It shows that sometimes the test results are much higher than the theoretical value. So it is suggested to get a reduction coefficient to these data.Finally, a truss were designed based on the test results. For processing the use of metal-plate-connected GluBam truss, also analyze the factors affecting the ultimate capacity strength of GluBam joints.
