The Con-fusion Of Modern Sculpture And Landscape Architecture

Landscape architecture and sculpture belong to the art category and both of them need to adapt to people's vision activity which links them close to each other. With the prosperous development of modern art movement, landscape architecture and sculpture are eager to liberate themselves from tradition. On one hand, modern sculpture has covered almost all the elements of landscape architecture; on the other hand, thanks to benefit from modern sculpture's style methods and space features, modern landscape sculpture has discovered a new way to develop itself.This thesis compares traditional landscape architecture with sculpture, finding their similarities and differences, which sets the foundation for the current study. Meanwhile, the cause and result for different stages of modern landscape architecture and sculpture's fusion are analyzed in the thesis. Then we propose that the top level of landscape architecture and sculpture's fusion is sculptural architecture, sculpture in space, and we also summarize its features. Finally we give some advice on the direction of sculptural architecture's development and point out that sculptural architecture should improve itself from many new aspects, pushing itself to step into the stage of being more complete, open, compatible and diverse.
