The effect of the paper refers to a set of optimized system coping with skewed intersections, which is mainly applied to the recent job on the common skewed intersections of the trunk roads of the main city zones in Chongqing. Based on geometric, traffic features, and recent common traffic problems, also based on the improvement on the geometric features of the intersections, internal traffic channelization and the choice of the traffic control measures, the paper has systematically studied the traffic management of the automobiles and pedestrians on the intersections.As regards the improvement on the geometric features, the paper has mainly studied the intersections' scarce sight-distance and then has worked out proper models of the intersections' sight-distance. As regards the internal traffic channelization, taking vehicles and pedestrians as its studying object, the paper has worked out some effective solutions on the function division of the lanes in each approach, on the management of turning vehicles, on the internal traffic channelization and on the decision of pedestrian's crossing patterns and the locations of the crosswalk. As regards the choices of the traffic control measures, the paper has elaborated the features and applicable conditions of different control measures and has studied the choices of different control measures on different road and traffic conditions.After the sketch of the traffic treatment scheme is completed, by means of the microscopic simulation models of the intersections, and from the movement to the state change of the vehicles in skewed intersections, the paper has a simulation test on the traffic performance of the skewed intersections in order to find out the lack of the scheme and gain necessary analytic parameters.The paper has also established a set of scheme appraisal system on skewed intersection treatment. On the basis of intersection function, unblocked traffic performance, traffic security, traffic environmental protection, economy and effective feasibility, the author has established AHP appraisal model of the treatment scheme on skewed intersections, which can make the treatment scheme more scientific. In its index group, the paper has discussed in details the calculating methods to the intersection capacity of different traffic control measures. Considering the vehicle types and vehicles' running-direction at same time, especially to the intersections with major-minor features, the author has deduced the capacity formula to the minor road.In the end, the paper has programmed, in VC++, the microscopic simulation of the skewed intersections, and also has demonstrated the theory and methods of the paper's research, with Y-intersection traffic treatment as an instance.
