The situation of domestic and international resources is introduced, we realize that many countries of the world are facing huge pressure that petroleum resources fall shortage and environmental pollution are serious , therefore different energy-saving measures must be taken to make use of available resources in the motor technology. To find new energy resources is an active way to solve the problem that we reduce the excessive dependence of petroleum.Biodiesel, as clean green alternative fuels for petroleum, has draw scholars' and engineers' many attentions.At the beginning, the way of producing biodiesel is summarized in this paper. The biodiesel's important physical and chemical properties are similar to diesel's, thus, the author considers that the biodiesel could be used in diesel engine directly in place of diesel.Viscosity of biodiesel used in the experiment is also measured, and it is contrast with the -10# diesel's at the same temperature. It found that the viscosity of bio-diesel, which used in this experiment , 0.87 times higher than the-10#diesel's.Whereafter, performance and emission characteristics of the single cylinder direct injection diesel engine fueled with -10# diesel is tested. Then, without any adjusting, biodiesel is burn in the original engine. Compared with -10# diesel, the biodiesel engine's power is a little lower than fueled with -10# diesel. The maximum effect power of biodiesel is 9.7% lower than the diesel's. Because the thermal of the biodiesel is lower than the dielsel's, the biodiesel effective fuel consumption is higher than the diesel's. But the fuel's economy includes the producting and using costs. Under the same condition, the CO and HC emission of biodiesel are lower than the diesel's, while the NO_X emission is higher than the diesel. The reason is Oxygen atoms are included in the biodiesel molecules, so it is easy to burn completely in the cylinder. Meanwhile, the high temprature and rich oxygen environment is formed, which promots the NO_x emission. The noise of the biodiesel engine is lower than the diesel engine's, measurement of sound power is 5.4dB lower than the diesel's. |
