In hydropower resource management, the optimal dispatching of generation in hydropower system is a very important research field. A reasonable and effective reservoir hydropower station dispatching strategy, based on the consideration of integrated utilization such as flood-control, shipping and irrigation, could change the distribution of hydropower resource in time and on space through the control of reservoir, for the purpose of hydropower resource plenary use, to get considerable social benefit and economic benefits.The optimal dispatching of generation in hydropower system is also a difficult mathematics optimization problem. Due to the growth of hydropower station construction in recent years, the scale of hydropower system increase quickly. It is so difficult to gain a solution of optimal dispatching strategy, however, the potential social benefit and economic benefits in the optimal dispatching of alliance generation also becomes more and more considerable.This paper focuses on the research of the optimal schedule system of Yuan current region cascaded stations, to develop a senior application software faced on the practical use of the hydropower resource's optimal scheduling. First, the significance of subject selection and the study of this paper are summarized. Also, the research status of the dealing with the optimal dispatching of generation in hydro system is summarized and all kinds of methods for the solution are analyzed and compared. Second, based on the theory of cascaded reservoirs long-term optimal scheduling, a stochastic dynamic programming with POA method was applied to the project. Also, a real instance was given to testify the arithmetic. In the next section of this paper, a mixed strategy of genetic algorithm and Tabu search method was introduced to the solution of cascaded reservoirs long-term generation optimal scheduling problem. Standing on the angle of quest, it also gave a reference of choice for the mixed algorithm's parameters. According to the business needs and work habit of customers, the fourth section of this paper put forward some conceives of developing a general senior application software for hydropower system optimal scheduling, which rely on the research of the optimal schedule system of Yuan current region cascaded stations. The system design adopted C/S systemic structure, and mainly studied the follow fields: medium and long-term flow forecast, short-term generation optimal scheduling, and long-term generation optimal scheduling. Last, some technique points and experience were proposed, and discussed foresee of maintenance and development.
