In this paper, considering the characters of Yellow River upstream cascaded hydropower stations, taking five reservoirs as researched objects:Longyangxia, Laxiwa, Lijiaxia,Gongboxia and Suzhi of Yellow River upstream hydropower development corporation, researching on short-term optimal dispatching problem of Yellow River upstream. Analyzing themselves characters of each hydropower stations, maximal cascaded energy output model and minimal cascaded water consumption model were established to the objects as short-term optimal dispatching model,in order to find optimal dispatching rule of Yellow River upstream cascaded hydropower stations on the two dispatching circumstances,which were taking water decide electricity and taking electricity decide water, for the sake of instructing actual reservoir movement better. The essential research contents and results were as follows:(1) Considering the characters of Yellow River upstream cascaded hydropower stations and the dispatch production reality, through the two dispatcher patterns of taking water decide electricity and taking electricity decide water, discussing the objective function of short-term optimal dispatching of Yellow River upstream cascaded hydropower stations,maximal cascaded energy output model, maximal cascaded energy output model which considered the peakload restraint and minimal cascaded water consumption model were established.(2) POA was applied to research the maximal single energy output model,through the study of day regulation and week regulation, the short-term single optimal rules of Yellow River upstream each hydropower stations were found by the detailed analyses of example calculation.(3) Based on the maximal single energy output, DPSA and LSSDC were applied to calculate the maximal cascaded energy output model,comparing with the result of cascaded unite optimization and single optimization.Through the contrast analyses of DPSA and LSSDC,the optimal rules of Yellow River upstream each hydropower stations were found on the circumstances of the maximal cascaded energy output.(4) Based on the maximal cascaded energy output, maximal cascaded energy output model which considered the peakload restraint were calculated. Through the peakload restraint coefficient was study out,LSSDC was applied to research the objective function of the maximal cascaded energy output,in order to find the generate electricity planning to satisfy the peak,normal and low change.(5) The minimal cascaded water consumption model was calculated by equal micro-increasing rate arithmetic,in order to satisfy the request of power grid and find the optimal load distribution of cascaded hydropower stations on each times.
