Risk lies in every period of project implementation; it can be recognized, diverted, transferred, reduced and managed. However, it shall not be despised. It is proved that, the outcome of neglecting risk is disastrous. Risk can be controlled and loss can be minimized only when a complete and deep understanding of risk is in place. The level of risk management is a reflection of the overall management level and situation of the company, and indirectly, it is also a reflection on the ability of the company to reduce the loss of risk and improve the level of profit.Engineering project risk management is a new school of management science, compared with traditional theories and methodology on project management, it enjoys unique advantage. In the western world and the developed countries of Asia, many construction companies have used risk management as a very important managerial system, and have achieved sound effects.Although the introduction of risk management to China is not very long, but the studies on it are hot. Compared with the adoption of traditional engineering project management measures and methodologies, less has been done by domestic construction enterprises to conduct project management through the utilization of risk management theory and methodology.Nowadays, the following problems still lie in domestic construction companies and it usually leads to the deviation of project targets and creates loss of different level:(1)The awareness of risk is insufficient and risk management is not valued.(2)Project management through traditional theory and model is more common.(3)There is still not a risk management system and management model suitable for construction enterprise.Considering the above, with years of experience in domestic and international construction companies in China, this thesis studied project risk management theory in a systematic way, analyzed various risks facing construction companies, developed theoretical system and managerial model for construction enterprise risk management, analyzed and described the process and methodology of risk planning, recognition, evaluation, decision and monitoring, set up risk model, introduced new measures of risk analysis, evaluation and monitoring. Besides, through the case of implementing risk management of a construction company in a project, this thesis explained the process and method of practicing risk management by construction companies, and it can be used to guide the risk management of construction companies.
