In recent years, the freight volume of Da-Qin line increases quickly. According to the plan of Railway Ministry, it will reach 300 million tons per year in 2007, and 400 million tons per year in 2009. With many times of capacity expansion, the section carrying capacity of Da-Qin line improved much. Hudong railway station, as an unique heavy-loaded train marshalling station, undertakes masks of combining ten-thousand-ton train and twenty-thousand-ton train. In order to complete the aim of reaching 400 million tons per year, it will need to combine much more ten-thousand-ton trains and twenty-thousand-ton trains than today. The carrying capacity of Hudong railway station will be the key point to insure transportation unblocked and adapt to the increasing freight volume.This paper described the development of the heavy haul transportation at home and abroad. It analyzed both the collecting and distributing transport of Da-Qin line, and technical condition of its correlative lines. The condition of loading and unloading place, composition of traffic flow, and import and export of freights on Da-Qin line in the future were also been described. It compared the differences between marshalling station for heavy-loaded train and common marshalling station, mainly pointing the specialty of station model arranging, operation feature, and operation process of trains in marshalling station for heavy-loaded train. Statistic analysis of actual data and the probably distribution of operation time were done by using SPSS software. Moreover, this paper established the carrying capacity simulation model of marshalling station for heavy-loaded train. A new method which based on attainable probably for computing the station carrying capacity was put forward in this paper. In the end, an example was given to illustrate the application of the model and the method, results were also been analyzed in detail.
