With the rapid development of the electric power industry, more and more SF6 electrical equipments are used. The quality monitoring of SF6 gas is more important than before. SF6 gas in the electrical equipment is inevitable to mix other gases. Under the arc action, the impurity can easily react with the decomposed product of SF6, and then produce poison which can corrupt electric equipment, degrade its insulation performance. If the content of impurity exceeds the norm, it will strongly influence the electrical, mechanical and on-off capability of equipment, which will result in a serious consequence.In this paper, the significant meaning of detecting the purity and the decomposed product of SF6, which applies to the electrical equipment, is discussed; the actuality at home and abroad about detection technology of decomposed product of SF6 gas is analyzed and the whole design of SF6 Gas Analyze System is summarized. This thesis expounds the basic situation of the decomposed product of SF6.The theories of the decomposition of SF6 are selected for SF6 Gas Analyze System with comparing and analyzing the features about existent theories. The optimal parameters of the decomposition of SF6 were investigated by changing the reaction conditions such as gap voltage, electrode geometry, and so on. Detected and analyzed the determination of SF6 which get from GIS by gas chromatography/ mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
