The minimum detecting illumination of dim light in the standard of National Institute of Metrology P.R. China is 10-5lx currently, but it's hard to reach the expectation of measurement of starlight illumination. The system of determining criterion of stellar magnitude in this paper can detect the starlight illumination of starlight simulator after calibrating the system with the stars known their magnitude.The chief research works are as follows:(1) To research the total design scheme of the system of determining criterion of stellar magnitude, the innovation of which is the system of self-check key. It can correction the data of detected signal at any time.(2) To select model of photomultiplier and design preamplification. In the use of photomultiplier, to employ some ways of electromagnetic shielding, low temperature control, getting of stray light in application of photomultiplier in detail to increase the certainty of measurement of starlight illumination.(3) To design the circuit of drive-plus generator which drives stepping motor to control rotary movement of rotating table and rotating mirror and compile program.
