Distribution network reconfiguration for loss minimization is a complex,1arge—scale combinatorial optimization problem .This paper is under the condition that network circulates normally and the electric voltage is stable. Network reconfiguration is the process of changing the topology of distribution systems by operating the sectionalizing switches and tie switches to realize Loads equalization and loss reduction.Graph partitioning method which makes loads equalization as network optimization is described by hierarchical topology model. It is available to reduce loss and excellent to network circulating. In fact, it is results of reconfiguration for distribution networks to partition distribution networks into some portion. Every portion connects with switches whose position is open. Looking for the best position for switches which is usually open by hierarchical topology model is used to achieve reconfiguration for distribution. Results of an example show that the method presented is applicable, efficient and fast.A novel algorithm for the reconfiguration of distribution networks in order to reduce the power energy losses under normal operation conditions is presented. ACA is a new general purpose meta—heuristic. The research expresses that this algorithm has good properties such as parallelism, stick and so on. Combining a characteristics of distribution networks, use ACA to resolve the problems of reconfiguration of distribution networks, set up the mathematical model ,and solve the problem .To demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed method,IEEE 33 nodes example systems and America PG & E 69nodes example systems have been studied .
