The basic task of the control system for boilers combustion is to make heat from fuel's burning to meet the needs of load, guarantee the security and economical operation of the boiler. It was a question for discussion problem in technical alteration and retrenching energy sources, improving thermal efficiency of boiler running, reducing expend of energy and decreasing the pollution of the environment.This paper simultaneously analyzes two aspects: detection means and controlling technology on the basis of analyzing the operating process and control system structure, and presents a new combustion control system which substitutes intelligent control for PID control, radiant energy signal for heat release signals, this system is composed of a knowledge-based switch controller, a compensatory FNN controller, a fuzzy optimizing controller and a FNN controllerBased on compensatory fuzzy, vapor pressure control system is designed and simulation results indicate that the control effect, robust and the performance for tracking parameter perturbation and disturbances are better than that of the PID controller. Furthermore, this system not only has the capability of self-learning, but also can optimize the air-fuel ratio on-line automatically to sustain the optimum combustion condition, whenever the boiler is running normally or disturbed by the variation in load or in coal-quality. The optimized air-fuel ratio will be memorized and employed as the learning sample to train the neural network, so as to optimize the neural network model. As a result, under the control of such intelligent control system, the peak of the combustion efficiency will be steadily held, and the boiler will run in the most efficient manner.
