In the past ten years, the important effect of the traffic design in the local traffic study and constructions has begun to be realized. However in the process of design, the actual effect is much different from the expected because the road design between intersections is lack of the support of theory. The purpose of this dissertation is to set forth the method on the theory for the design of AM, and point out another idea about the design and application for the future.The dissertation is tend to form the systematic theory and methods of the urban surface street Access design based on the theory of urban traffic design. The main study contains three, which are the Access mode and character, the analysis of Access operation efficiency and the analysis of Access smooth.In the study of Access mode and character, the dissertation systematically analyzes the reciprocity between the road function and traffic design, then according to the road function, design character and the traffic operation, set forth 12 base modes. Simultaneously, as the base form of local traffic operation, the 4 base modes are shaped.There are two aspects in the access operation efficiency: the study of capacity and vehicle delay. In the study of capacity, the dissertation put forward the calculate model of left-turn traffic, through traffic and capacity according to the study on the capacity of unsignalized intersections and statistics. In the analyses of vehicle delay, it is found that traffic volume, the location and numbers of driveways and road design are the main factors, simultaneously it is also found that U-turn has a very big impact on the effect of access operation.In the analyses of access smooth, firstly explain the concept of smooth. Comparing the output of traffic simulation, it is found that the vehicle speed standard deviation of arterial roads increasing directly with the smooth traffic volume, and reversely with the smooth of arterial roads and numbers of driveways. Simultaneously it is also found that U-turn has big impact on the smooth and speed standard deviation of the arterial road.Whereas the limit of the author's ability, the dissertation is a little lack of depth, and the study about the traffic safety and etc need further study.
