Study On Power Line Remote Monitoring System Based On GPRS And GIS Technology

Power line is important equipment of power system. Since a long period, destroying power equipment cases by man-caused factor always occurred in our nation, especially stealing material of power transmission tower cases occurred more frequently, which damaged the security of power system and caused tremendous economic loss. Due to the power lines covering a broad area, mostly distributed in the wild, simply rely on manual inspections can not prevent the destruction of power equipment in time and effectively.Based on such background, contraposing power lines for their characteristics,the paper researches and designs the power line remote monitoring system by adopting GPRS(General Packet Radio Service),GIS(Geographic Information System),Online monitoring, Network communications, Databases and other advanced technologies.The system can detect abnormity and destruction in time, prevent security incidents of power system. It is composed of Monitoring terminal at the scene, GPRS wireless communications systems and Management information system in the monitoring center. Monitoring terminal is installed on the power transmission tower, monitors the state of power line and power transmission tower, sends alarm information when the abnormity appeared; GPRS communications system sends image, voice and other measurement data that Monitoring terminal measured to monitoring center; Management information system in the monitoring center presents these data to the engineers. Moreover, monitoring terminal can send alarm SMS to mobile phones taken by related engineers.The paper presents the design of system hardware and software in detail, introduces control methods of GPRS module, video compression card, vidicon and so on;discusses communication mode and strategy of GPRS communications system;describes the development process of Management information system by c# language with .NET development platform.The system realizes real-time monitoring of the running state of the power line,power transmission tower, improves the standard of the power line operation and management. It can run stably even under terrible condition in the wild.
