Power distribution automation is vigorously developing in our country, and with the rapid development of modern industry, the demand for higher performance of reactive power balance in the power distribution system increases. China has vast territory, which makes the power has to be widely supplied. It is difficult for building cable monitoring network, while with higher maintenance costs. Specifically, the public distribution transformer system is an important part of the supply network in urban areas. The transformers locate in different positions, and with complex and volatile power loads, which increases the difficulty in public transformer management. So, design and develop a timeliness, communication facilities, high reliability and long-range distribution transformer monitoring system has a very important significance.In nowadays, the mobile wireless communication technology develops very quickly, mobile digital communication network which make use of GPRS communication, has covered all over the country, and the network is stable. The system with power distribution monitoring of the power distribution transformer station area, assessment of line losses, and reactive power compensation, which is achieved by the use of GPRS wireless network provided by mobile operators, can save wire materials and labor costs, eliminate daily change and maintenance of the network, and maximize the saving of the investment. Whenever or wherever there is a computer with Internet access, it will be able to understand the real-time information of the power distribution transformer station area, realize the remote monitoring, and improve the efficiency of the monitoring system for the maintenance personnel.This project design and develop the distribution transformer monitoring system based on the well developed and reliable GPRS network, combines with the ARM7-based monitoring terminal, to achieve the target of real-time remote monitoring to transformers, and protection actions reling to the data. This article gives a design of reactive power compensation control system based on remote control. The control core of this program is high-performance32-bit ARM7 microprocessor, man-machine interface use192×64dot matrix graphics and characters LCD modules, the memory capacity is16M bytes. The design can display the measurement parameters and controller running status of the line and can be accessed to check and modify the value of the controller anytime. With the GPRS network linked control center, it realize the remote communication of data. The management software in control center carries out a variety of operation, to realize remote control, parameter settings, data query, capacitor switching control, data downloads, record query and so on.The characteristic of the project is it gives a solution to the distribution transformer monitoring system in wide ranged and complex environment, who has a high degree of safety and reliability. The distribution transformer monitoring terminal system, which is introduced in this paper, has been used in field. The practical application shows that, the controller is able to acquire and display the parameters of power network, and according to the parameters of power network automatic switching capacitor, function accords with the design requirement, and the anti-interference ability according to the national standard.
