According to governmet rules, the company should create the recordfor electric vehicle in its initial and development period. The design ofremote monitoring system will make the work easy.Wireless data transmission via GPRS network was achieved in thispaper. The GPRS module in lower machine contained the TCP/IP protocolstack, which made it possible to connect with upper machine via TCP/IPnetwork protocol. The lower machine communicated with ECU throughCAN protocol. It received and resolved the vehicle data, and sent theresolved data through serical comunication interface. The upper machineconnected with lower machine following the Windows Sockets networkcommunication process. It sent command to start/shut down lowermachine’s work, and set it sending period. It received the packet groupedby lower machine, then resolved, displayed and recorded the packetaccording to custom protocol. As to the hardware, according to function requirement, the lowermachine hardware based on Freescale S12MCU was designed. The designprocedure included component selection, schematic design, PCB designand testing. The hardware included smallest MCU system, CAN moduleand GPRS module. As to the software, software both in upper and lower machine wasdesigned. Program in the lower machine was designed by modularprogramming method using Codewarrior integrated developmentenvironment. The function included CAN communication, data process,SCI communication and GPRS communication. The program hadrepalceability and extendibility. The program in upper machine wasdesigned via LabVIEW virtual instrument, could achieve networkconnection, control lower machine and record data. The test plan was also made. At first, the reliability of wirelesscommunication is tested. Then, the real vehicle bus was simulated for testing, primarily verifying the Accuracy and reliability of the system. Thesystem is easy for transplanting, and the paper can be used as reference forautomitive telematics and vehicle network.
