With the boost of global economy, the demand for energy is also on the rise over the world, government and people become increasing mindful of the energy conservation issue. In the field of building construction, the research for energy-saving residential building has set off an upsurge, however, the focus of which just locates on the energy saving technologies and application of new building materials, and deemphasize the study of the energy consuming structure and lifestyle that influence energy consumption. In hot summer and cold winter zone, to accomplish the anticipated air-conditioning cooling and heating result, many households generally adopt air-conditioning unit, which perform a significant function in the total energy consumption. In this paper, actual measurements were taken to energy consumption of residential buildings in Changsha city and model was established based on actural data, and dynamic analogy method was adopted to seek and propose corresponding energy-saving solutions. Based on a follow-up investigation on energy consumption of 100 households in residential buildings in Changsha city during 2000 to 2003 and 2005 to 2006, two representative households were selected to exert detailed measurement about energy consumption structure and indoor and outdoor thermal and humidity environment. On the basis of detailed testing date, using the software of eQUEST, built up the typical buiding models. Annual energy consumption of various household appliances in typical buidings of changsha is simulated in eQUEST software. And compared the experiment result with the the result by simulation, the reliability and practicability of the software are validated adequately. The following results can be concluded:(1) In a year the lowest monthly mean temperature appears in January, and the highest appears monthly mean temperature in June. The daily temperature minimum is not under 0℃and the tiptop is not over 40℃in experiment testing. In winter mostly time the relative humidity is above 80 percent, in summer mainly between 46 pecent and 76 percent. In summer and winter, indoor thermal and moist environment is without ashrae standard areas if it doesn't opening air-condtioning. and through an regression analysis of test data including energy consumption and outdoror temperature in documents,airi-conditioning and refrigerator energy consumption are the greatest association with the outdoor temperature. the Correlation Coefficient is over 0.5 for cooking and other energy consumption with outdoor temperature.(2) House Energy Consumption mainly classified into kitchen, space cooling and space heating, entertainment, lighting et al. In different households the mainly energy consumption is kitchen, space cooling and space heating. The difference of energy consumption in each month has significant seasonal Characteristics. In winter and summer the energy consumption is higher than the transition season. In family the awaiting electronic can't be ignored.(3) It is known that the effect of external overshadow is better than that of nternal by eQUEST simulating; the biggest influnce to the building energy consumption is adding insulation materials on the exterior wall; the using of double glass can reduce air-conditioning and heating energy consumption effectively. From this paper we can recognize that energy conservation is an inevitably achieved goal that requires the joint effort made firstly by the government's unified planning and standards and policy's constraint, and secondly by the developer's restriction for envelopment construction and building shape coefficient, and thirdly by different energy consumption equipment types and live habits and customs in various households.
