Energy consumption of building is an important part in total energy simulation of the country, with the rapid economic development in China, the amount of new building keeps rapidly increase, so the energy consumption of building increasing rapidly too. Energy-saving in building industry has become a crucial issue for sustainable development in China. Particularly, In market economy circumstance, economic aspect is a key factor to apply energy saving measures to buildings. Therefore, it is essential to carry out techno-economic assessment of the building energy-saving technologies.Researchers, both in China and abroad, have been put lots of effort in this field. However, a few quantitative studies which address the cost feasibility of energy-saving buildings using the LCA and systematic analysis methods are available in literatures.The main purpose of this study is to establish an analytical approach including mathematical model and its corresponding algorithm for techno-economic assessment of energy saving technologies applied in residential buildings. The analysis results will be useful for optimizing the energy-saving design schemes. The details are as follows:1) Review of basic theories including life cycle assessment theory, technology economic assessment theory and feasibility study theory.2) Base on the above, in the process of identifying and classifying the factors that influence the cost in LCC, modify the method of build-cost budget, add the factors such as structure adapting cost and maintenance cost about energy-saving material and structure, in addition, In order to make the method of appraisement is more accurately,the author also add the policy factors in income budget.3) Techno-economic appraisement is developed to appraise the integration of energy-saving technology and building, by identifying the influence which the energy-saving technology bring to the building, emphasize the significance of integration method, provid reference for deeper research. 4) Models based on life-cycle concept are developed to calculate the energy cost in different energy-saving building projects.5) The method have been applied to a building project in Wuhan.The research results show that the initial investment (cost) is paid back during the operational phase through less consumption of energy. By using models in this study, we can make the optimization of design about energy-saving technique and structure more effectivly, and make contrast between different projects feasibly.This study will promote the development of techno-economic assessment research and building energy-saving industry in China. The model and the algorithm in this paper provide a tool for techno-economic assessment of energy-saving technology and optimizing energy saving design schemes.
