Coal mine safety is the assurance of the continuous, stable and healthy development of coal industry. It not only greatly influences the society economy but also involves the mine worker's safety. As the hinge of electric power, the mine substation is one of the main objects that the safe production takes charge of. The traditional substation depends on artificial operation mostly; Ground dispatchers obtain the information on the substation's operation by duty officer's telephone completely. So they can not control the operation status directly and immediately. Aiming at the actual monitory need of mine substation, this article develops a kind of remote monitor and management system which has the functions such as collecting real- time data exactly, communicating data credibly and safely, and integrating information management.This article consists of lower-end computer sub-system design, CAN communication sub-system design and upper-end computer monitor software. Lower-end computer sub-system substation makes single chip as main control chip to collect and store real time data of amount of analog value and switch value, and realizes the communication with CAN control chip; CAN sub-system consists of lower-end computer CAN node and CAN communication card in upper-end computer PCI interface. Through the CAN bus controller and driver, lower-end computer controls the CAN node and makes the CAN node and upper-end computer CAN communication card receive and transmit the data each other and then realizes real time communication between lower-end computer and upper-end computer credibly; Upper-end computer monitor software receives real- time information from CAN node in mine substation, and then carries on visualization disposal, real- time monitor alarm, information management and record, etc by Labview G language program. Finally, it links with strong database to realize such functions as management, monitoring, data record, report form output and communication disposal.The remote monitoring and management system of mine substation based on the CAN bus can collect data acutely, its communication is real time and credible, the function of monitor system is complete, the software can be manipulated conveniently, the degree of visualization is high, and the interface is friendly. Through the debugging and probation in the experiment, the system achieves the requirement of the design targets.
