System similarity measurements of the mechanical products are for the sake of comparison of similarity and difference. To know product features is the chief task of similarity measurements. This dissertation mainly studies acquiring feature value method and its application of similarity measurements for mechanical product system.Similarity is analyzed by abstracting the mechanical product features of function, behavior, structure and performance. For the complex products, the features are divided into many layers. The concepts of extensive feature and similarity module unit are presented for easy analysis. The method which abstracts unit features of similarity modules is made certain.The features of mechanical products can be divided into qualitative and quantitative features according to feature types. Calculative model of similarity degree on feature unit is built. A question of extensive feature similarity degree is resolved. Especially, high-dimensional features adopt mode classification method. The degree is computed after the high-dimensional features become low-dimensional ones.As actual examples of the automobile oil pumps, the method of acquiring feature value for the mechanical products is applied in ones, which has testified the feasibility of the method. It can distinguish from the similar oil pumps according to their similarity degree.Another, the method's application is also researched in the fields of similarity and series design, and afforded a new way for series design of similar product.
