In this dissertation, the measurement and application of self-similarity for complex mechanical systems are researched. The correlative theories of self-similarity measure is studied: System theory,Fractal theory and Similarity theory. System theory is the object of self-similarity theory; elf-similarity is the basic character of fractal theory ,and fractal theory take a way for self-similarity theory ;Self-similarity theory is on the basis of similarity .The classification of different characteristics of many kinds of mechanical products and obtaining the parameter of different characteristics is researchded. On this case, some main methods of weight coefficient of characteristics are talked about: Subjective weight coefficient, Objective weight coefficient and Subjective and objective synthesized weight coefficient. Associated with optimizing theory, given subjective and objective synthesized weight coefficient, using both mechanical experts experience knowledge and product system objective information, advanced the comprehensiveness of weight assignment.Computed results indicate this theory applied and validity via measurement of characteristic self-similarity between the dynamic drive system and sub-system. In a world, a new theory and method of self-similarity measure for complexity mechanical systems is presented. Rapid prototyping for self-similarity design is a good applied illustration for self-similarity theory.
